The smoky haze that has hung over Vancouver is expected to linger for a few days longer, but relief is on the way, according to the latest weather forecast.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is projecting that the region will be smoky at least until Friday, Sept. 5.
However, you’ll want to keep an umbrella close by as showers may return as early as Saturday, Sept. 6, during the evening.

This aligns with a September forecast that ECCC meteorologist Matt Loney shared with Daily Hive.
“Some weather systems possibly coming in the second week,” said Loney.
The daily average temperature for Vancouver in September is 15.2°C, with the average monthly rainfall for the region being 51.9 mm.
Vancouver temperatures throughout the weekend are expected to reach a high of 24°C on Saturday.
But precipitation and cooler temperatures are expected to return on Sunday, with a chance of showers and highs of around 20°C from Sunday to Wednesday.

Rain in the Vancouver forecast could help clear up the city’s air quality, which was ranked as the worst in the world on Wednesday.
Vancouver ranked number one on IQAir’s list of the most polluted major cities in the world, with an AQI reading of 180, surpassing Lahore, Pakistan; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Those travelling out of town this weekend are also being warned of an out-of-control wildfire in B.C.’s Fraser Valley and Thompson-Nicola region.
The Mine Creek Wildfire, currently listed at 1,900 hectares in size by the B.C. Wildfire Service has forced the closure of a section of the Coquihalla Highway with no timeline for reopening. It has also prompted an evacuation order and two evacuation alerts in the area.
