Enjoy the sunny Vancouver weather while it lasts as gloomy forecast looms

The Vancouver weather has been warm, bright and beautiful, but it won’t last, according to the latest forecast.

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) seven-day forecast suggests that after a few more days of sunshine and warmer temperatures, we’re reverting to classic Vancouver weather.

Vancouver is forecast to see highs of up to 15°C between now and Friday, but overnight Friday is when conditions will apparently start to shift to cloudier conditions, according to the ECCC weather forecast.

Fortunately, temperatures won’t cool down significantly, averaging around 13°C and 6°C overnight. Still, fans of the rain will be able to rejoice as the forecast will shift from sunny skies to a chance of showers beginning on Saturday.

ECCC predicts between a 30 and 60 per cent chance of showers over the weekend.

Vancouver was also facing some fairly high winds on Tuesday morning, with speeds of 40 km/h and gusts up to 70 km/h, likely the remnants of a windstorm earlier this week.

The region has faced a string of warmer-than-usual weather since winter, which has led to Metro Vancouver announcing lawn water restrictions due to a low snowpack.

Mike Hurley, chair of Metro Vancouver’s board of directors, noted that the region’s snowpack levels are low.

“We’ve had a warm winter in Metro Vancouver and the snowpack, which helps boost our water supply as it melts through the spring and early summer, is below normal for this time of year,” he said in a release. “It’s more important than ever to limit unnecessary water use by watering just once a week.”
