Gorgeous springtime weather in Vancouver continues for much of the week, though you’ll want to enjoy it while you can. And you may want to bring in the patio furniture as a wind storm is set to arrive on Monday.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a special weather statement for “strong and gusty westerly winds” for Metro Vancouver and the Southern Gulf Islands, calling for gusts up to 70 km/h.
According to ECCC meteorologist Ross MacDonald, a vigorous cold front will manifest starting in the late evening.

“What’s coming tonight is a cold front driving up stronger winds from the north west,” explained MacDonald to Daily Hive. “The wind will gust up to 70 km an hour, especially near the water.
“Even into Tuesday, brisk winds up to 60 km are possible up until the early afternoon.”
ECCC is warning residents in Metro Vancouver and the Southern Gulf Islands that the wind storm may toss loose objects and break tree branches, and local power outages may occur.
BC Ferries also issued a service notice warning travellers that some sailings may be forced to cancel due to the strong winds.
This comes after a chaotic long weekend with multiple BC Ferries vessels out of service.
#ServiceNotice To ensure the safety of our customers and crew, some sailings between #Tsawwassen and #SwartzBay on April 6, 2026, are at risk of cancellation due to strong winds forecasted by Environment Canada.

Temperatures will continue climbing for much of the week, with inland temperatures reaching a high of 18°C.
However, don’t put away your umbrellas just yet, as rain may be returning this upcoming weekend, as well as a return to more seasonal temperatures after the wind storm.

“We bounce back after the wind, with a ridge of high pressure sending temperatures into the mid to high teens,” added MacDonald.
“However, for the weekend, it looks as though we will see a Pacific Front and more unsettled conditions.”
