The roller coaster weather that Vancouver has experienced this winter continues this week, and you may want to bundle up if you need to head outside.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is calling for a drop in temperature towards the freezing mark within the next seven days.
And while Environment and Climate Change (ECCC) meteorologist Ken Dosanjh said that it’s a return to normal temperatures for this time of year, he also states that there are signs of further winter weather on the way.

“We started off February warmer than normal, and though temperatures this weekend are cooler, they’re actually closer to normal,” said Dosanjh in an interview. “The normal highs are single digits and usually around 7 to 8°C.
“During the overnight periods, it’s important to be mindful of clear nights. We’re starting to see warm air escaping, and temperatures dropping closer to zero.”
The week begins with shows on Monday and Tuesday, with sunshine forecasted to return on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The high this week is expected to only reach 9°C, during the midweek.
Overnight temperatures will dip between 1°C and 3°C this week, with Saturday dropping to 0°C.

“Even with the precipitation, this week is looking drier than normal,” explained Dosanjh. “The showers shouldn’t be too intense, though the next system is coming on Friday.”
However, ECCC warns that the weather may shift starting next week.
“A ridge of high pressure is bringing cold temperatures down from the north to the South Coast, and next week could be wetter than normal,” added the meteorologist.
“With the freezing levels being brought lower to the surface, we’re keeping an eye out for the next system, which could include the possibility of snow.”
