Oh thee hallowed Pi Day…The day for gourmands and mathematicians alike to worship our beloved Pi and our succulent Pie.
Our cultural obsession with celebrating number sequenced days will be hitting a peak next year on this day. When the traditional Pi day (3.14 aka March 14), will be celebrated to 12 places.
“Yes, the time is upon us. Everyone knows pi day is March 14th, but any true nerd realizes pi is not 3.14, but rather an irrational constant which continues infinitely in decimal expansion. Starting at 9:26:53 (.589… sec) AM, the longest extended Pi Day of our lives will come into action. The date, at the AM and PM hours, will be ” 3/14/15 at 9:26:53.589. Days like this only come once in a lifetime!” –The Only Pi Day of Our Lives Facebook group.
So as you can see, this is serious business. What can we as mere mortals do to celebrate Pi day? I have sacrificially researched and taste tested my way through some of Vancouver’s top pie spots to find my picks for getting your pie fix today.
1. The Pie Shoppe
Located a block off Main street in Chinatown, this little spot is worth trekking off the beaten path. The owners, two sisters, are incredibly friendly and take a lot of pride in their pies.
Their top seller: The Pecan Chocolate Pie, a gluten free commodity paired amazing with coffee.
