Jobs in healthcare, sales, and finance are among the top in-demand jobs in Vancouver this year.

Randstad Canada, a recruitment firm, has released its annual ranking of in-demand jobs across the country for 2026.

“Opportunities are flourishing across diverse fields like administration, logistics, retail, finance and skilled trades. The increasing demand for digital expertise and evolving industry needs are reshaping the job market,” reads the report.

Here are the top five in Vancouver.

  1. Administrative assistant
  2. Sales associate/representative

  3. Dental assistant

  4. Licensed practical nurse (LPN)

  5. Accountant

Starting salaries for these roles range from $50,000 to $56,000 annually, with the highest rate for LPNs, which begins at $68,320.

“This ranking confirms an underlying trend: technology does not replace humans, it enhances relational and strategic roles,” said Patrick Poulin, president and CEO of Randstad Canada, in a statement.

“Whether in healthcare, administration, or retail, employers are primarily looking for talent capable of navigating both technological efficiency and emotional intelligence,” he added.

Job trends for 2026

With an aging population and lingering pressures from the pandemic, there is a strong demand for nurses, dental assistants, and pharmacy assistants, roles that Randstad called “recession-resilient.”

Randstad says that the “experience economy” is changing what roles look like in retail and sales.

Store managers, sales associates and sales representatives are “increasingly valued for customer engagement, loyalty and long-term relationship building, making customer experience a central driver of growth.”

Even though many companies might be using AI for routine tasks, Randstad says that administrative assistants, office administrators and receptionists are needed for problem-solving, digital skills and coordination — especially in healthcare and education.

The recruitment firm also predicts that companies will need “strong financial oversight,” meaning that there might be demand for bookkeepers, accounting clerks, and technicians.

With the economy e-commerce driven, jobs like forklift operators (one of the top jobs Canada-wide) are needed for “supply chain efficiency” and customer service representatives to resolve issues for customers.
