We’ve seen many new direct flight announcements over the past week, and there’s one more to add to the list, as Pacific Coastal Airlines (PCA) has announced a new non-stop route from Vancouver to a historic B.C. city.
Quesnel, B.C., is the latest addition to PCA’s growing network of stops around the province.
The new non-stop service between Vancouver International Airport and Quesnel Airport is now available for booking, with the first flights scheduled to depart on Oct. 30, 2025.
If you book this week, you can get 20 per cent off with a special promotion that ends on Oct. 9.
The Vancouver to Quesnel flight will operate six days a week, from Sunday to Friday, on the 19-seat Beechcraft 1900.
“This route will make travel easier for residents, open up new opportunities for economic and tourism growth, and strengthen regional connectivity across British Columbia,” said Jonathan Richardson, Vice President of Commercial at PCA.
Quesnel is also known as the home of the Rocky Mountaineer, as it played a historic role as a railroad destination. The Rocky Mountaineer train company calls Quesnel the province’s golden nugget.
Quesnel also played a key role during the gold rush.
“In the 1860s, this region was home to a rush that brought gold seekers from all corners of the world. Mining towns and roadhouses sprang up almost overnight, and the legends from that era remain today,” PCA said in a release.
Connecting routes are also available from Victoria.
“The new route connects travellers from Vancouver and Victoria to a unique playground for outdoor explorers in search of an accessible yet off-the-beaten-path getaway.”
PCA offers various options for a getaway near the newly-connected region, including downhill skiing at Troll Resort, cross-country skiing at Hallis Lake in the winter, or outdoor adventures such as fishing, paddling, and mountain biking in the summer.
There’s also plenty of wildlife to see in Quesnel, including grizzlies and black bears, which can be safely viewed with the help of Ecotours-BC.
You can learn more about the new route and about Quesnel over at the PCA website.
