Harlem Globetrotters 2018 World Tour

  • What: The Original Harlem Globetrotters are going on a World Tour against the Washington General, with ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that thrills fans of all ages. The famed team will feature a star-studded roster that includes Big Easy Lofton, Ant Atkinson, Hi-Lite Bruton, Thunder Law, Bull Bullard and Cheese Chisholm, plus female stars TNT Lister and Ace Jackson (rosters will vary in each city and are subject to change).

Festival of Lights at VanDusen Garden

  • What: The botanical garden is covered in more than a million lights. Reindeer and Scandinavian gnomes also roam the trails, and visitors can walk through the gingerbread wood, lantern alley, and Make-a-Wish candle grotto.

Contemporary Art Gallery Family Day – Earth Paint

  • What: On the last Saturday of each month, the CAG invites all ages to drop-in for short exhibition tours and free art-making activities that respond to our current exhibitions. Inspired by Andrew Dadson’s White Restretch with Bark Mulch (East Vancouver), Earth Paint allows guests to experiment with a range of earthy paints to create a thickly textured creation on canvas.

City Lights at The Cinematheque

  • What: Described by Charlie Chaplin himself as “a comedy romance in pantomime,” this winning mix of slapstick, sentiment, and social criticism has Chaplin’s beloved Little Tramp falling in love with a blind flower girl. When he discovers that her sight can be restored through expensive surgery, he goes to extraordinary lengths to raise the necessary money, including an hilariously ill-advised turn as a prizefighter. She, for her part, believes her unseen benefactor to be a handsome millionaire.

Chief Dan George: Actor and Activist

  • What: Longshoreman, actor, musician, lecturer, poet, activist, environmentalist and First Nations leader; Dan George (born Geswanouth Slahoot) is remembered for many things. Chief Dan George: Actor and Activist explores the life and legacy of Tsleil-Waututh Chief Dan George (1899- 1981) and his influence as an Indigenous rights advocate and his career as an actor.

Glow Christmas 2017

  • What: Glow Christmas will be brightening up Langley’s Milner Village Garden Centre with over 500,000 lights spanning 103,000 square feet of holiday magic. The display will feature four different light gardens, food trucks (and bar!), over 40 vendors, and – the cherry on top – a 210-foot musical light tunnel.

  • What: For those looking to spend some quality time together in a different sort of way this Christmas season, the Vancouver Aquarium is the place to be. While many enjoy the Aquarium’s offerings on a daily basis, a special night-time experience is being offered in the form of a family sleepover. Taking place on Saturday, December 30, the sleepover runs from 9 pm until 9 am the next morning.

Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver

  • What: Revellers looking to ring in 2018 before the clock strikes midnight only have to descend to the Coal Harbour waterfront on December 31. For the third consecutive year, Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver’s fireworks celebration, free outdoor street party, and premium indoor party will enable Vancouverites and visitors to kick off the New Year in proper fashion. The event is one of Canada’s largest NYE celebrations in terms of both programming and attendance. In fact, last year’s event attracted over 100,000 attendees.
