Vancouver's first taxi-booking app arrives

Delete those taxi numbers from your contact list; Metro Vancouver’s first taxi reservation app is coming to smart phones near you.

Zoro is the first app in Vancouver to let customers book a cab from their mobile devices. Richmond-based DDS Wireless International created Zoro along with the cooperation of Vancouver’s regulated taxi fleets to put customers in contact with thousands of cabs across over 10 companies.

Users will be able to arrange a ride immediately or pre-book a future trip based on their pick-up location. The app will estimate the fare needed, map your taxi’s location while you wait, communicate with your driver and maintain a record of your recent trips.

A feature coming soon to the app will be the ability to pay by phone through the app.

“The Zoro app is free to download. For the first few months, bookings are also free – you’ll just pay the standard taxi fare for your trip. And because Zoro works with regulated taxis, you never have to worry about higher rates during busy periods,” the company states.

Currently, Zoro will serve:

  • Vancouver
  • Cloverdale
  • Coquitlam
  • Delta
  • Ladner
  • Langley
  • New Westminster
  • North and West Vancouver
  • Richmond
  • Surrey
  • Tsawwassen
  • White Rock
