Discover over 40+ films at a magical short film festival in Vancouver next week

Get ready, film fans! A celebration of B.C. and Canadian short film, documentary, and animation artists and their works returns to Vancouver next week.
The 15th annual Vancouver Short Film Festival (VSFF) is happening from June 13 to 15 at SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, as well as nationwide virtual access via Eventide for most films from June 13 to 22.
This year’s VSFF will showcase 47 bold films in several programs, including eight entries in the always-popular After Dark block.

“This program feels like magic, and I am continually blown away by the offerings Canadian filmmakers put forward. Our team has united to put this experience out there for the community to enjoy,” said festival director Duncan Carr. “We are really proud of it.”
Highlights of VSFF 2025 include Hatch, a dramatic tale of an Afghan refugee boy hiding with his mother inside a moving water tanker as they try to safely cross the border, and Beyond the Salish, a documentary about two kayakers who embark on an epic adventure off the Pacific Coast of Vancouver Island.

Another film to add to your watch list is the horror short ‘The Sorrow,’ where a retired army general and his live-in nurse discover that they are not alone in a house with its own dark secrets.
VSFF will also be hosting several filmmaker-exclusive events, including networking sessions and workshops.
There will also be an awards presentation with over $50,000 in cash and prizes, and a closing night party for the festival. Check out the full schedule here.
