If there’s one thing Vancouverites love, it’s brunch. Sleeping in a little, rolling up to your favourite brunch spot, and indulging in Eggs Benedict and a mimosa is one of the greatest joys of the weekend.
Unfortunately, the rest of the city feels the same way, meaning brunch lines are always long. So when a new spot opens up — or an old favourite starts offering all-day brunch — there’s reason to celebrate.
In addition to providing the city with one of the few oyster bars, Harbour Oyster + Bar, located in East Van’s food-centric Commercial Drive neighbourhood, is now upping the ante with an all-day brunch menu. You can expect a twist on some of their seafood classics, as well as some classic brunch mainstays — best served with a Harbour Caesar, obviously.
Available all day, every day, brunch is no longer exclusively a weekend activity. Without a limit on how late you can dig in, sleeping in just a little longer doesn’t mean missing out.
For the exceptionally ravenous, dig into the Steak Breakfast Sandwich: a filling and savoury dish with steak, egg, tomato, and jalepeño aioli on sourdough bread. For those looking for something on the lighter, more classic side, why not try the French Omelet? The rotating feature omelet, which changes depending on the season and the day, is served alongside mixed greens.
If you’re a seafood lover who can’t fathom going to a seafood restaurant without getting something coastal, go for the Shrimp Toast — toasted sourdough is topped with shrimp, celery, and finely chopped chives. For the bold brunch veteran, order the Fried Oysters and Waffles. A twist on the usual fried chicken and waffles, this dish is served with satisfyingly spicy jalapeno syrup to take those crispy fried oysters up a notch.
There’s no reason oysters should only make an appearance during happy hour, especially when winter — and November, specifically — is peak oyster season. Get while the getting’s good!
Speaking of happy hour: In addition to their brunch menu, Harbour Oyster + Bar also offers happy hour prices from 11 am to 5 pm on a selection of their seafood appetizers, including mussels, clams, prawns, and $1.50 oysters, as well as beer and wine. As one of the only oyster bars in the Commercial Drive area, Harbour Oyster + Bar is the place to be for fresh seafood, whether it’s for brunch or not.

Other menu favourites that deserve a mention include the Oyster Rockefeller, served with bacon and grana padano, their Lobster Poutine, Grilled Octopus Frites, and Oyster Po’ Boys.
Not into seafood? In addition to their seafood dishes, Harbour also serves up great options for the seafood averse, like their legendary Caesar Salad, Blistered Shishito Peppers served with lemon mayo, their classic BC Burger, and Steak Frites served with chimichurri mayo.
Whether it’s a long Saturday afternoon brunch you’re after, a good after-work happy hour stop off, or whatever else in between, Harbour Oyster + Bar is where it’s at. The restaurant is also available for holiday parties for up to forty people, so book your intimate gathering now before the word spreads.
With a laid-back, cozy environment and an inventive menu, we have no doubt that this place will top the list of hot spots faster than you can say “let’s go for brunch.”
