Vancouver Rise FC will be making a grand entrance on the local sports scene.

Vancouver is one of the six founding members of the Northern Super League, a new Canadian professional women’s soccer league, along with Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax. Teams will each play a 25-game regular season from April to November.

Vancouver Rise FC revealed today that its first match will take place against Calgary at BC Place on April 16. After the BC Place match, Vancouver Rise FC home matches will shift to the club’s permanent home, Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.

The new club has made some high profile additions in recent months, including adding Christine Sinclair as part-owner. The team’s most high-profile player is Quinn, a standout from the Canadian national team.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for our team and the league,” said Vancouver Rise FC president Sinead King. “Kicking off the NSL in Vancouver feels especially meaningful, given the city’s passion for soccer and the key role our ownership played in bringing the league to life.

“We’re thrilled to host the first game at BC Place, surrounded by dedicated fans. With 12 home games on the schedule, we can’t wait to see everyone at BC Place on April 16 and then at Swangard Stadium for the rest of the season!”
