A Vancouver FM radio station that has undergone some major programming additions also recently underwent a subtle rebrand.
The station, formerly known as KiSS Throwbacks, which broadcasts on 104.9 FM in Vancouver, will now be known as KiSS West Coast.
The station also broadcasts on 92.5 FM in Abbotsford and 107.5 FM in Chilliwack.
No official press release has been issued for the Rogers-owned station, but the rebrand is clear on the station’s social media pages. We have reached out to Rogers for more information.
This isn’t the only major change coming to the station.
Earlier this month, we learned that 104.9 FM was going to become the new home for Canucks radio broadcasts.
A post on Instagram announced the news, saying, “KiSS Throwbacks is the new home for Vancouver Canucks radio broadcasts!”
That would obviously now say, KiSS West Coast is the new home for Vancouver Canucks radio broadcasts.
While you’ll be able to hear Canucks games on the station, there will not be any pre- or post-game coverage available to listen to on the radio.
With no pre- or post-game show, KiSS Throwbacks could go straight from “No Scrubs” by TLC to the Canucks game, and straight out of the Canucks into “Oops!…I Did It Again” by Britney Spears.
This marks the second rebrand for the station, as it only rebranded to KiSS Throwbacks last year.
Prior to the “Throwbacks” moniker, the station was Sonic 104.9. The rebrand was also a format switch to a new-old era of music.
“We’re playing throwback music from the 2000s, the 1990s, all the stuff you know, all the stuff you love,” we learned at the time.
The Vancouver radio landscape has undergone some massive changes over the past few years, and in comparison to those, like the closure of AM730 or News1130, this change is fairly minor.
