When it comes to the legendary rock band U2, fans like to go all out. In honour of the band choosing Vancouver to launch their current world tour this week, Corus Radio Vancouver’s Rock 101 will become U2 101 for the day on Thursday, May 14.

From 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. the station will play back-to-back U2 songs, all in the name of love of the band.

The rockers will also sit down for an exclusive interview with Willy in the Morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the station.

The band made the transition from their base at Pacific Coliseum to Rogers Arena over the weekend. They have been in the city for many weeks, rehearsing at the East Vancouver stadium since mid-April.

Thursday night will find U2 taking the stage a Rogers Arena in Vancouver for their two-night gig. Fans are already camping out at the stadium in anticipation of the shows. Now they can fuel their excitement by tuning in to U2 101 (at 101.1 FM) all day Thursday for the sweetest thing: All U2 all day. (Take note, it’s not Sunday, bloody Sunday.)

“Rock 101 is thrilled to exclusively feature U2 on our station prior to the launch of their world tour right here in our hometown,” said Ronnie Stanton, Vice President, National Brands and Programming in a news release.

It’s (going to be) a beautiful day Thursday for Vancouver’s U2 lovers. Sure, the radio isn’t even better than the real thing, but if all you want is U2, this will infuse you with pride…and it’s happening with or without you.
