Police in Vancouver are investigating after three homicides that occurred on Wednesday evening.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says in an email that the homicides unfolded over two unrelated incidents.

Just after 7 pm, officers were called to the Astoria Hotel, located on the 700 blocks of East Hastings in the Downtown Eastside. VPD says that two people were found unresponsive in a room. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other passed away at the hospital.

The second incident took place shortly after, just before 7:30 pm. This time, officers received “multiple 911 calls” reporting shots fired near the area of East 64th and Knight Street.

“One victim was found dead in front of a house in the area,” says VPD.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Major Crime Section and at this point in time, there is not believed to be any risk to the public.

Anyone with information is asked to contact VPD detectives at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

These incidents mark Vancouver’s 12th, 13th, and 14th homicides of the year.
