5K Foam Fest Abbotsford

5K Foam Fest/Facebook

  • What: The 5K Foam Fest boasts 22 of some of the best and most exciting obstacles in the world including the worlds largest inflatable waterslide, slip and slides, and mucky mud pits. Combine these obstacles with 2.5 million cubic feet of foam, live DJs and a vendor village, and chances are you’ll be enjoying an epic summer day. The family fun event supports the Make A Wish Foundation.

Coho Bon Voyage

  • What: Release coho salmon fry, see the fish hatchery and discover the ecological importance of salmon. Presented by Bowen Island Fish & Wildlife Club

  • Where: Crippen Regional Park – Meet at Terminal Creek Hatchery, a 15-minute walk from the ferry dock

101 Hikes: An Evening With Author Stephen Hui

  • What: An evening with Stephen Hui, author of the all-new guidebook 105 Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia (Greystone Books), a comprehensive guide for trekking in all seasons. Books will be available for sale at the talk.

Learn About the Langley Bog

  • What: Join biologist and local expert Jeremy Smith to learn about the plants and animals that can be found in the bog.

Hands-On Scientist – Smarty Plants

  • What: Delve into the secret lives of park plants and wildlife as local scientists share presentations and research techniques then guide a walk to investigate the topic of choice. Learn the basics of BC plant identification. Hear about the threats native plants face and how you can help keep our wild spaces healthy.

Wonderful Water Creatures

  • What: Take a close look at the fantastic underwater realm of invertebrates and microbes in a pond and under a microscope.

  • Where:  Campbell Valley Regional Park – meet at the pond – 20285 8th Ave, Langley

Splash! BC Family

  • What: Try your luck at catching rainbow trout at Rice Lake (fishing gear provided). Enjoy exhibits and other festivities. Food trucks will be on-site. Catch the shuttle to the dam and fish hatchery to explore the Seymour Valley.

Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival

  • What: Community, culture, and competition, all in one boat. That’s the name of the game during the Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival. The event features three days of music, activities, and world-class racing. This year, the festival will celebrate its 30th anniversary and everyone is invited to come check out the festivities.

Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon
