Olympic Cauldron to be relit for 10-year anniversary of 2010 Paralympics

UPDATE: The Vancouver Paralympic Games anniversary celebration has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


ORIGINAL STORY:

While 10-year anniversary celebrations for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games have concluded, there are also a number of planned upcoming events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

BC Pavilion Corporation and the Vancouver Convention Centre are holding a public ceremony at Jack Poole Plaza in downtown Vancouver on the afternoon of this Thursday, March 12.

The Olympic Cauldron will be relit, and there will be public speakers from the provincial government and the Canadian Paralympic Committee. As well, ‘O Canada’ and ‘I Believe’ will be performed by 16-year-old local artist Elizabeth Irving.

The X Paralympic Winter Games were held in Vancouver and Whistler from March 12 to 21 in 2010, shortly after the Olympics.
