A global protest against Donald Trump and his administration is scheduled to take place on Saturday, and the Vancouver iteration could attract some American visitors travelling up from the United States.
Called No Kings (or No Tyrants here in Canada), the protest’s event page suggests the action is in response to “authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies.”
The event comes at a notable point in global affairs, on the heels of heightened fears of conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Iran.

Vancouver’s event will take place at the Consulate General of the United States, located at 1075 West Pender St.. It’ll run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies,” the event description says.
“On Saturday, June 14, we’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind.”
PBS published a story about the event, suggesting that protests will be happening at over 2,000 locations in the United States alone. Considering that the event is planned globally, with locations in major cities worldwide, the overall number is likely far greater.
Although there will be events in Washington across the B.C. border, there appears to be some interest from our neighbours across the border in joining both events. Posts on various social media platforms, including Reddit and Facebook, suggest that some Americans are planning to attend in Vancouver.
“I plan to go to both,” said a Bellingham resident and Redditor who has been searching for a ride up to Vancouver.
“Please, all Canadians and peaceful visiting Americans, come join us,” someone said on Facebook.
According to a post on X, folks in the Vancouver, Washington, version of the event have been warned that ICE officers could be in attendance.
This isn’t the first Trump protest to take place in Vancouver, B.C., this year. In March, during the height of the trade war between Canada and the United States, a demonstration was held with the hopes of fostering Canadian unity. That event also took place at the Consulate General of the United States in Vancouver.
