New Brighton Pool in Vancouver is reopening this weekend and will give swimmers a chance to cool off after a sudden closure earlier this week.
The Vancouver Park Board says New Brighton Pool will be back open Saturday, Aug. 23 at 9 a.m., just in time for swimmers to beat the late-summer heat.
The Sunrise neighbourhood spot was sidelined by a mechanical pump issue, but crews have since fixed the problem.

The heated pool is popular with families for its beach-style entry, lap swimming lanes, and wheelchair-accessible amenities.
Most swim sessions will run as usual, but the pool will close early at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28. The evening public swim from 6 to 8 p.m. will not be offered.
New Brighton joins Kitsilano, Second Beach, and Maple Grove pools as one of Vancouver’s seasonal outdoor facilities.
All are scheduled to close for the season on Monday, Sept. 1, for the Labour Day holiday.
But not everyone is ready to say goodbye. Local swimmers replied to the Park Board’s announcement by asking for the pool’s season to be extended to make up for the lost time.
Swimmers are encouraged to reserve spots online, as drop-in access is limited and not guaranteed.
