Four Vancouver artists have been chosen to join 15 other aspiring musicians in Montreal, where they will collaborate, attend lectures, and create music at the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp.

The camp is a learning experience that runs from September 21 to 24 at the Phi Centre, taking place on the one year anniversary of the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy in Montreal.

Vancouver will be sending four artists, though two of which are a package deal. Those going from Vancouver are Evy Jane, an independent artist trained in Jazz and classical singing; Minimal Violence, a collaboration of Ashlee Luk and Lida Pawliuk; and Yu Su, an electronic DJ from China who has a background in classical piano.

These four will be joining other young musicians from across the country to collaborate on innovative tracks, learn from professionals like Adam Hodgins, Tommy Paxton-Beesley, and Andrew Macpherson, and get the opportunity to use state of the art equipment.

The 19 attendees will also be able to attend lectures from Rhye’s Robin Hannibal, Toronto’s Boi 1 da, and Beverly Glenn Copeland.

Music from Evy Jane, Minimal Violence, and Yu Su can be found on SoundCloud.
