Vancouver mayor suing rival NPA and Kirk Lapointe for defamation

Dec 19 2017, 8:42 pm

Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson and his Vision Vancouver party have filed a defamation lawsuit against Kirk Lapointe and the Non-Partisan Association party.

According to a statement by Vision Vancouver, the lawsuit targets the NPA’s recent television and radio advertisements that allegedly contain false and defamatory words about Robertson and city councillor Geoff Meggs.

The lawsuit seeks the NPA to retract its statements, pull the advertisements from the air, and pay for damages and legal costs.

All of this comes just ten days before Vancouver residents cast their ballots in the civic election.
