A Vancouverite who says he was pepper sprayed by a stranger believes it was because he refused to lend the man a lighter.

Ivan Rogachyov was having a cigarette near Homer and Davie streets around 8 am on Saturday when he says a homeless man approached him and asked for a light.

When Rogachyov said no, he says the man pepper sprayed him.
