Metro Vancouver is home to many institutions and organizations that offer jobs that pay a living wage.
These jobs include civic roles in various municipalities, government bodies, educational institutions, and other companies. Many of these jobs don’t require you to have a degree; they usually require applicants to have a high school diploma and some relevant experience.

One position offering applicants more than a living wage is the pharmacy helper role at Owl Drugs. Owl Drugs is located near Main and Hastings in the Downtown Eastside. The position pays $29 per hour and only requires a high school diploma and some experience.
If you love animals, the BC SPCA is hiring a development coordinator for events, which pays up to nearly $70,000 per year. The position requires a combination of experience and education, but no degree is needed.
The City of Vancouver is hiring a library public services associate. While the job listing suggests that the ideal candidate would have some supplementary courses on top of a high school diploma, it adds that all are welcome to apply. The position pays up to $30 per hour.
If you have the right experience, the guest experience representative role at Vancouver Airport could prove lucrative. The position pays up to $63,628 per year. The role requires applicants to greet guests and passengers and assist them on their journey.

The BC Public Service is offering a customer service role that pays up to $56,000 per year. Requirements include a high school diploma and some relevant administrative and clerical experience.
This time of year is primetime for seasonal positions, which is perfect if you’re not necessarily looking to lock yourself into a long-term role. One company offering seasonal roles is Rocky Mountaineer. The transportation company is currently onboarding for several seasonal opportunities. Rocky Mountaineer isn’t listing specific position requirements, but there will likely be roles that don’t require a degree.

This is just a tiny sampling of some of the jobs in Vancouver that don’t require a degree and pay pretty well. If you’re currently on the job hunt, plenty more roles exist. Just remember to be careful about potentially fake job listings.
