Evo Car Share is giving away free rides as part of big milestone

Good news if you’re an Evo member: the B.C.-based carshare company will be offering free rides next week as part of a major milestone for the company.

Created by BCAA, Evo says that it’s the fastest-growing carshare in Canada. It began its operation back in March 2015, and it will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.

As part of the celebration, Evo drivers can redeem unlimited free 10-minute trips on Monday, March 24.

Here’s how it’ll work.

On Monday, if you’re an Evo member, you can drive for as long as you want, but Evo will cover the first 10 minutes of all trips that day. There will also be free events and other discounts for Evo Extras partners.

“Our goal was to give people in B.C. a better way to get around, even if they didn’t own a car. Since launching a decade ago, we’ve grown our hybrid and electric fleet and massively expanded the communities and members we serve,” said Amitis Khorsandi, vice president of Evo Car Share.

When Evo first launched in 2015, it did so with just 250 vehicles. More specifically, it launched with 250 Toyota Prius hybrid cars. Since then, Evo’s fleet has grown to 2,500 vehicles. Evo has also offered fully electric cars since around 2021.

In reflecting on its 10th anniversary, Evo has shared some notable milestones since its inception.

“During the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Evo gave 250 cars to frontline healthcare workers, helping them get to and from work safely for free.”

Since 2015, Evo has expanded to other areas, such as offering an e-bike share program that began in Whistler in 2022. On top of Metro Vancouver, Evo also provides its services on Vancouver Island in the City of Victoria.
