Before the warmer months arrive, it’s a good idea to start looking for those summer jobs or apply for new career opportunities in Metro Vancouver

This May, hundreds of different kinds of jobs are available around the region. So whether you have a background in food service or health care or are looking for your first job, you’re bound to find something for your specific skill set.

Here are 11 companies with some awesome gigs up for grabs right now:

Canada Post

If you’re looking for jobs within Metro Vancouver, Canada Post is currently hiring for two retail postal clerks in Vancouver. This position pays $23.81 per hour and is an on-call job. Eligible applicants should be open to working a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights and weekends.

Canada Post is also hiring 10 parcel support postal clerks at its Richmond plant. Responsibilities for this job include the operation of material handling equipment, sorting, scanning, and sequencing batch mail items, and transferring and dispatching parcels and packets.

Tacofino

The much-loved BC eatery Tacofino is hiring in Metro Vancouver. Current job openings include a full-time front-of-house manager in Kits and a full-time restaurant operating manager in White Rock.

While you will need some experience in the restaurant industry, working at Tacofino means you’ll be able to take advantage of its competitive salary,  bonuses and extended health and dental benefits.

RCMP

The BC RCMP is seeking to hire confident and considerate individuals to join its team of 911 police dispatchers.

If you have a great attitude, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, that is all you need to jump-start a career with the RCMP. Applications to be a police dispatcher can be done online.

Electronic Arts

If you’re looking for a career in the video game world and have the expertise, EA is hiring for several jobs in Vancouver.

EA, known for major franchises like NHL, UFC, The Sims, Battlefield, Madden and Need for Speed, has several video game-related tech jobs open. They include a cinematic designer, online software engineer, animation director, and creative lead.

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)

Young Canadians looking for work experience will have many job options this summer. A government initiative aims to connect job seekers and companies to fill several job openings.

The Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) aims to help young people ages 15 to 30, particularly “those facing barriers to employment,” gain experience and develop skills that will help them in the future. Over 70,000 summer jobs are available in the not-for-profit, public, and private sectors.

Good Co. Bars

Good Co. Bars has five locations in Metro Vancouver to serve its customers, and it is currently hiring for a variety of roles.

The local watering hole chain is looking for bartenders, line chefs, and chefs to round out its staff. Good Co. Bars encourages everyone to apply, especially people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ2S+ communities, and those who identify as BIPOC.

City of Burnaby

Vancouver Fraser Port Authority
