Vancouver Hospital Serves Chinese Food

Dec 19 2017, 4:30 pm

Hospital food is mediocre at best. However, one Vancouver hospital now gives the option of ordering Chinese food. Mount Saint Joseph’s Hospital in East Vancouver is now meeting the need of its long term residents.

Since close to 95 per cent of the hospital’s long-term residents are Chinese, this move is being hailed as one that is highly sensible. The hospital is working with Sodexo food services to develop a Chinese menu option that is compatible with patient diets.

Expect to see options like sweet and sour pork, shrimp, fried rice and other menu items. The hospital will still serve their usual menu and with this addition patients will have a much larger selection of choices.

All the dishes will meet Canadian health guidelines and there will be no additional cost to run this program.
