Some of the best conversations you ever have in your life happen at the kitchen table.
It’s a place where everyone comes together to enjoy a delicious food and share their what’s on their mind. And here’s the perfect reason to be a host on Thursday, September 13 at On The Table.
This one-day event is an initiative led by Vancouver Foundation to encourage community connections.
The Foundation is inviting you to gather friends, co-workers and family to sit down, share some food, and talk about what matters the most to you.
All you have to do is register to become a host, think about the topic you’d like to talk about, the guests you’d like to invite (8 to 12 recommended) and the website will guide you through five easy steps to manage your event, including the creation of a personalized invitation.
You can choose to host a breakfast, brunch, lunch, snacks, dinner, potluck, BBQ, or dessert, and you can either provide the food yourself or ask your guests to bring something to share.
And lastly, choose a location that inspires people to talk. This could be at your home around your kitchen table, at a local restaurant, your local library, an office lunchroom, or at a recreation centre.
Nothing needs to be fancy or complicated – the main goal is that people come together to share food and have a conversation.
It’s a fun, meaningful opportunity for people across BC to meet, gather, and share. And the things groups talk about will be collected and shared to give Vancouver Foundation a snapshot of what’s on people’s minds throughout the province right now.
Don’t worry if you can’t host literally on the day of September 13; events can take place any time between September 13 to 16.
