'Robust' storm bringing heavy rain and possible flooding to Vancouver forecast
The last week of September is shaping up to be a wet one in the forecast, and commuters are being warned to be careful on the roads across Metro Vancouver.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a rainfall warning for the region starting on Monday, Sept. 28.
According to ECCC meteorologist Jennifer Kowal, a moisture-laden system coming in off the Pacific will affect the south coast and Lower Mainland.

“The very wet Pacific System will start coming in on Monday morning, with cloud cover increasing,” explained Kowal. “Rain should start by around 4 p.m. and continue into Tuesday.
“Around 50 mm of rain is the widespread average, though areas that have topographic enhancement like Burnaby Mountain or the North Shore mountains could see up to 70 mm.”
ECCC is forecasting “strong and gusty southeasterly winds” during the overnight period, and water to likely pool in low-lying areas and on roads.
“There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic,” added the federal government department.

Though there is expected to be momentary clearing on Wednesday, Sept. 30, more showers could be on the way.
“A weaker system is moving in late on Thursday with possibly more precipitation,” added Kowal. “And because it’s fall, systems are swirling off the coast of B.C., which causes more overcast skies in the Lower Mainland.”
Temperatures will reach a high of 15˚C on Monday but will jump up to 20˚C on the weekend.
Overnight lows throughout the week will hover between 9°C and 12°C.
