After a record-breaking wildfire season, drought conditions, and air quality advisories, there is some rain in the forecast this week for Vancouver.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the first chance for precipitation begins on Tuesday night and will continue until Wednesday morning.

While the rain will be welcomed, it doesn’t appear to be sticking around for Thursday or Friday, and the forecast predicts hazy conditions will persist and the heat will return with highs of 23°C on the water and 28°C inland.
On Tuesday, the smog persists throughout much of the province, blamed on wildfires that continue to ravage thousands of hectares of land and keep many from their homes under evacuation orders.
Rain is expected in the Okanagan, which will help firefighters contain the blazes, but with some wind expected as well, it’s unclear how much those conditions will assist in knocking the fires down.
In Metro Vancouver, the worst air quality remains in areas like North Vancouver, Vancouver. In the Fraser Valley, Chilliwack is still under an advisory as of Tuesday morning.
“Eastern parts of the region continue to experience the most significant smoke impacts. Smoke concentrations may vary widely across the region as winds, temperatures, and wildfire behaviour change,” the advisory on metrovancouver.org reads in part.
However, next week might offer hope for those changing their plans to avoid the smoke. According to The Weather Network, rain is in the forecast for Monday (40%) and Tuesday (70%), which might help us all breathe easier.
