Chef Meets Truck

It’s time for some of Vancouver’s top chefs to trade in their restaurant kitchens for cooking space that’s a lot more mobile. The Chef Meets Truck event will go down in Yaletown on Tuesday, September 12, and there are some pretty exciting culinary match-ups. Partnering with some popular local food trucks, the chefs on tap will hop on board the four-wheeled kitchens to create sample-sized bites of top-notch eats for guests to enjoy.

Making Brioche

In this class by Tartine and Maple learn all the basics of making Brioche. Attendees will learn how to make Basic Brioche Loaf, Braided Brioche with pearl sugar, Brioche Cinnamon Rolls, and Savory BBQ Pork Buns. You will be served a glass of wine during the class and a welcome snack, and you’ll be able to take home recipes and leftovers.

On September 15 across Canada, you can pay whatever you want for a large Slurpee. 7-Eleven’s Slurpee Name Your Price Day will benefit WE, as the chain of convenience stores donates 100% of proceeds from the sale of large Slurpees from the day to support the family of organizations “that make doing good doable, enabling people to better the world.”

Market Mexico

A one-day, free Mexican “cultural experience” is coming to the heart of downtown Vancouver next month. On Saturday, September 16, the day-long outdoor pop-up event known as Market Mexico will take over Robson Square and everyone is welcome to come check it out. In addition to the market, the event will also feature music, film programming, and a Mexican market virtual reality experience that was produced by the Mexico Tourism Board.
