9 Vancouver food events to check out this week, December 19 to 25

Christmastime is almost here, but there’s no shortage of delicious things to do in Vancouver this week. From an exciting fundraiser supper to a special seasonal sandwich and heaps of beer and cocktails, the week is full of food and drink events worth checking out around town.

Here are nine food-focused events happening December 19 to 25 in Vancouver.

Greasy Spoon Diner Supper Series Vol. 22: Mark Brand

For the 22nd instalment of the monthly fundraiser guest chef dinner event at Save On Meats, the restaurant and event’s own founder, Mark Brand, gets cooking. Brand and the SOM family are honoured to be creating a very special Greasy Spoon Diner meal. Proceeds from the Greasy Spoon Diner will go to A Better Life Foundation’s Being Hungry Sucks campaign.

When: December 19, 2016 from 5:30 to 11 pm

Nineteen02 Pop-Up Kombucha Shop

Put on by kombucha brand Nineteen02, the pop-up shop has six rotating taps for kombucha pours, including some of their “12 kombuchas of Christmas” flavours (chocolate orange, for example). Additionally, customers will find hand-blended local teas from Nineteen02, alongside goods from Whisk Match, The Good Oak Soap, CraftedVan, Eve’s crackers, and Spread-Em.

When: Now through December 31; Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday 11 am to 5 pm.

Turducken sandwich at Meat & Bread

It’s baaaaaack! Meat & Bread will once again be offering their treasured holiday Turducken sandwich. The special will be available at the sandwich shop’s Vancouver locations December 22 and 23, while supplies last–so make your plans now.

If the holiday spirit hasn’t warmed your cold, dark soul yet, one visit to the winter wonderland set up at Reflections at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia might be just the infusion needed to get you humming a few bars of “Jingle Bells.” Get cozy with special cocktails, and a menu of tasty bites perfect for sharing with a date or a shopping buddy, or all by yourself (you deserve it!).

True, this isn’t purely a food event, but if you’re at Colony Kits, you’re probably at least drinking (and likely eating, too). Head over for some holiday-themed trivia, hosted by IQ2000 Trivia.

Holiday cocktails at Vancouver TheatreSports

VTS’ holiday-themed show “Christmas Queen 3: The Bachelorette Edition” is in its final week, with shows Monday through Friday at 7:30 pm. To go along with the show, The Neil Macrae Bar & Lounge at VTSL is offering special Christmas Queen 3 Cocktails, which you can enjoy before or after the show…or during, because, yes, you can take the drinks into the theatre with you.

Winter Market (Urban Digs & Zero Waste Market)

Parallel 49 and Central City’s popular annual holiday collab Season’s Greetings beer advent calendar is a big commitment every December, so if you just wanted to try a few of the P49 brews, your best bet is to head to New Oxford and Lamplighter this week. On every odd-numbered Day until December 23rd, as beer lovers open the next day of their advent calendar and discover the beer of the day, the Gastown Beer Society and Aletown Beer Society will tap a 30L keg.
