Vancouver firefighters responded to a three-alarm apartment fire on Southwest Marine Drive and Heather Street early Tuesday morning.

Assistant Chief Kenny Gemmill with Vancouver Fire and Rescue told Daily Hive that over a dozen trucks were called to the 24-unit apartment at about 3:30 am.

There were a total of seven rescues performed  — five from balconies and two from inside.

According to Gemmill, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and investigators are currently on site.

A total of 22 tenants were displaced, and Gemmill says they are receiving assistance from social services.
