The Light Festival

City of Surrey

What: The City of Surrey and Telus are inviting everyone to the Light Festival at Bear Creek Park this fall. Visitors can experience a mesmerizing show of illuminated trees, eye-catching displays, and sparkling lights throughout an ever-changing garden of colour. On opening and closing night, guests will be treated to family-friendly activities at a kid’s zone, food trucks, and roving performers. Tuesday, November 6 will feature Diwali-inspired music, food, and performers, as well as a chance to make your own lanterns at the Surrey Art Gallery. Anyone attending is reminded to bring a flashlight and dress for the weather, as the event will run rain or shine.

Hastings Park Farmers’ Market

What: Find a great selection of local produce, fish, meat, dairy, artisan prepared foods, baked goods, local crafts, craft alcohol producers, and food trucks. There is free parking for market shoppers at Gate 2 off of Renfrew St.

When: Every Sunday from November 4 to April 28 (except December 30)

Diwali Dhamaka

What: Celebrate Diwali with RED FM with this free family event. Enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, and musical performances from Geeta Zaildar, Gurlez Akhtar, Sony Dhugga, DSP and Reet Kaur.

Movember Undie Run 2018

What: Movember Foundation and SAXX Underwear are hosting their first Movember Undie Run in Vancouver on Sunday, November 4. The event starts at 12 pm at Brewhall in Olympic Village, and with the weather getting cold, you must be a brave one to run 2 km in your underwear. All runners will receive a pair of SAXX underwear, one drink ticket, complimentary food and more.

Richard Lett in “One NUT Only”

What: Yuk Yuks Vancouver presents Richard Lett’s One Man Show featuring music, spoken word and stand-up comedy to tell the story of Lett’s experience surviving testicular cancer, while raising awareness of men’s health and raising funds for the Movember Foundation.

Mushroom Show

What: Discover the fungus among us as the Vancouver Mycological Society presents a show of local autumn fungi. Bring mystery mushrooms for identification. This event is for all ages.

Port Moody Winter Farmers’ Market

What: Established in 2008, the Port Moody Winter Farmers’ Market began as a bi-weekly market in the lobby and courtyard of the Port Moody Rec Centre. Now a weekly market, shoppers can stop by every Sunday for local BC produce, artisan crafts, and delicious baked goods.

Diwali in Kits

What: Celebrate Diwali, the Hindu celebration of light at the Kitsilano Community Centre. Activities include Bollywood dancing, henna tattoos, diya painting, saree draping, Chai from Trudy Ann, refreshments from Jolly’s and All India Restaurant, as well as Panago Pizza.

Japan Market Vancouver – Christmas Fair

What: Vendors and crafters will be putting their work on display, with a unique selection of Japanese crafts and products available. Items like jewellery, soap, notebooks, ceramics, kimonos, charms, and hair accessories will be available, just to name a few. Visitors can expect treats like baked goods, chocolates, puddings, and traditional teas this time around. Onsite services like body and hand massages, as well as aromatherapy, will also be available.
