Russ

  • What: Russell Vitale, known by his stage name Russ, will kick off his See You Tour Part 1 in Vancouver. The Atlanta-based hip-hop artist’s breakout success over the past year, began with his entirely self-penned debut album There’s Really A WOLF, released in May 2017. His hits “What They Want” and “Losin Control” have both landed double-platinum success. The popularity of There’s Really A WOLF  helped Russ surpass 1.1 billion audio streams in the U.S. in 2017, making him one of Nielsen Music’s 30 most streamed artists of the year.

In the BAG: Family Sundays

Jimmy Carr

  • What: Jimmy Carr has been on the stand-up scene for a decade and a half. In that time he’s performed nine sell-out tours, playing nearly 2,000 shows to over two million people across four continents including performing at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival 12 times. He’s won the British Comedy Award for “Best Live Stand-Up Tour” and been nominated for the Perrier Award.

Rufus Wainwright

  • What: Juno award-winning American-Canadian singer and composer Rufus Wainwright is coming to Vancouver for a show this May. Wainwright has recorded seven albums over the course of his career, as well as writing a classical opera and setting Shakespearean sonnets to music. He is perhaps most famous for recording a cover of Leonard Cohen’s song Hallelujah! for the soundtrack of the movie Shrek in 2001.

Sufi & Qawwali Music Experience with Anandita Basu

  • What: Experience the connection between music and meditation with Anandita’s fusion of Sufi and Indian Classical vocals. Anandita’s exhilarating vocals and interactions with the audience helps to understand the ancient origins of this music as well as experience the subtle effects it has on our being. Sangeet Moksha, a local music group will also be performing with Anandita. This unique group includes artists who studied music in India as well as North American artists who have incorporated music from India into their musical repertoire.

Chicken Fight VII

  • What: Patrons can head to The Lamplighter to judge the wings that have been prepared by cooks from participating restaurants and teams. There will be drink deals like $5 Hornitos tequila and $5 Phillips 18oz draughts to get in on as well. Final votes are then tallied, and winners are chosen based on the combined votes of the public and the judging panel. After this exciting event wraps, the Long Weekend afterparty continues all night long.
