Picnic in the Park 2019
What: Picnic in the Park is back in Vancouver, and is being hosted this year by Josh Rimer, Vancouver’s very own Canadian gay role model — who won Mr. Gay Canada 2019. Everyone is welcome at this event, especially families. Attendees can grab a post-event drink at the new Stanley Park Brewing Brewpub, bring a picnic or treat themselves at one of the several amazing food trucks serving up an array of dishes and desserts with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
The event will feature music by Westcoast Harmony Chorus and KELLE, as well as drag performances curated by Tuck Entertainment Inc. Activities at Picnic in the Park 2019 include free, outdoor yoga classes at 9:15 am and 11:10 am, relay races, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, watermelon eating contest, giant rainbow parachute, three-legged race, booths with crafts, button making, and so much more.

Surrey Fusion Festival 2019
What: Surrey Fusion Festival is celebrating its 12th anniversary this summer. Western Canada’s largest multicultural event is a massive two-day event focused on music, culture, and food. Known for having dozens of pavilions serving up grub from all over the globe, Surrey Fusion Festival is an event you should definitely arrive at hungry.

Edmonds City Fair & Classic Car Show
What: A car lovers dream come true, all happening in Burnaby. Enjoy the street festival with the whole family, with food vendors, live music, petting zoo, and more.

Robson Square Salsa 2019
What: Enjoy a free dance lesson taught by some of Vancouver’s best salsa instructors. Following the lessons, there is a dance show that features some of Vancouver’s most talented dancers. Plus there is social dancing throughout the afternoon.

Port Moody Rotary Ribfest 2019
What: The fifth annual celebration of all things BBQ meat will be kicking off on July 19 and running until July 21 at Rocky Point Park. This three-day event runs from 11 am to 9:30 pm (9 pm on the 21) and will feature seven rib vendors, music, a corn hut, and more. There will also be a family-friendly beer garden with 6oo seats, along with an adults-only beer garden with room for 1,100 thirsty rib-lovers.

Definitely Dali Exhibition
What: Chali-Rosso Art Gallery’s annual Definitely Dali exhibition is back for the summer. Enjoy original artwork by the great Spanish Surrealist master, every single day until the end of September. Plus visit the monumental Salvador Dali sculptures they have positioned in the two public, outdoor spaces: Dalinian Dancer at the corner of Alberni and Thurlow St., and Space Venus at LOT 19, at the foot of Hornby St. 2 W. Hastings.

Big Day BBQ
What: Big Day BBQ events pop up all over Vancouver, but you’ll definitely want to be at this one at Fraser Common Farm in Langley. This day will feature complimentary beverages from Windfall Cider, Powell Brewery, and Dickie’s Ginger Beer and music by Starlight & the Pony. Food up for grabs will include a whole hog, chicken, and brisket. You can also enjoy a farm tour or play a game of corn hole before you down dessert from the Pie Shoppe. All proceeds go towards completing their barn project, which houses the many groups that visit the farm to learn about local food systems.

Pride Run & Walk 2019
What: Celebrating its 15th anniversary, Pride Run & Walk is an annual event hosted by the Vancouver Frontrunners, a local LGBTQ2+ running and walking club. Offering a 10 km running course and a 5 km running or walking course, this event has something for everyone, regardless of your abilities.
Having raised over $100,000 since the event’s inception, 100% of the profit and proceeds are donated directly to local community organizations who are making a big difference.

Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time
What: This unique exhibition is focused on the art of Alberto Giacometti, renowned in the twentieth century for his sculpture, painting, drawing and design. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to examine the breadth of his practice and to see Giacometti’s place among his contemporaries in Paris and London in the post-war period.
In addition to Giacometti, featured artists include Francis Bacon, César, Lynn Chadwick, Jean Dubuffet, Jean Fautrier, Elisabeth Frink, Henri Michaux, Eduardo Paolozzi, Isabel Rawsthorne, Man Ray, Germaine Richier, Jean-Paul Riopelle and William Turnbull, among others.
