World Maritime Day at the Port of Vancouver

What: The Port of Vancouver is hosting a free-to-attend, family-friendly celebration for World Maritime Day. This year’s celebration also follows the theme of “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community.”

Attractions at the event include multiple exhibitor’s booths and displays, on-water demonstrations, and live concerts. The main stage will have performances throughout the day from Bobs & LoLo, Will’s Jams, Langley Ukelele Ensemble, Coastal Wolf Pack, SEABILLYS, Sarah Wheeler Band, The Burying Ground, and The Paperboys.

What: The 12th annual Metropolis at Metrotown Retail Job Fair will run from 12 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, September 28 at both Atrium and Grand Courts. Retailers are gearing up for another busy holiday season and are looking to fill over 600 part-time and full-time entry-level or managerial positions. Oktoberfest at Hastings Racecourse

What: Oktoberfest at Hastings Racecourse features delicious traditional fare, exhilarating horse races, dancing to live music, and plenty of beer. Attendees will have access to two exclusive areas that are only open to ticket holders: the German Haus and Wine Haus.

The German Haus will feature live music by The Silver Bells, exclusive craft beers from Parallel 49 Brewing such as their Craft Lager, Pumpkin Oktoberfest, and Trash Panda Hazy IPA, and naturally hardwood smoked Oktoberfest sausage exclusively from Schneiders. The Wine Haus will feature a curated selection of premium cheeses, as well as wines such as Sawmill Creek’s Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.

Etsy: Made in Canada

What: The sixth annual Etsy: Made in Canada is at Robson Square from 10 am to 6 pm. Everything available at the Etsy Made in Canada pop-up is made by local sellers with captivating stories. There’s something special for everyone with unique handmade and vintage goods like jewellery, accessories, home décor, and treasures for kids. This one-day, cross-country marketplace is the largest pop-up to simultaneously take place in cities across Canada, including Toronto and Calgary.

Zwanze Day at Bells and Whistles

What: Officially launched in 2011, Zwanze Day is an annual celebration that sees less than 100 bars and taprooms around the world selected to showcase a one-off, experimental ‘lambic’-style beer produced especially for the occasion by renowned Belgian brewery Brasserie-Brouwerij Cantillon as part of its ‘Zwanze’ series. Bells and Whistles is one of only three Canadian locations to participate in the Zwanze Day 2019 celebrations and will be tapping the only keg of this year’s exclusive Zwanze in Western Canada.
