Carnaval del Sol 2018

  • What: The biggest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest returns to Vancouver this July. The 10th annual Carnaval Del Sol is a two-day celebration of Latin American Culture. The event features live music, art, dance, sports, and poetry. Over 400 artists from different Latin American countries will attend the festival as well this year.
  • When: Saturday, July 7 to Sunday, July 8, 2018
  • Time: 11 am to 10 pm
  • Where: Concord Pacific Place, Vancouver
  • Admission: $2 by donation for adults, and it’s free for seniors and children 12 and under. A $10 Super Pass is also offered

Khatsahlano Street Party 2018

  • What: The free annual festival will take over 10 blocks along Kitsilano’s 4th Avenue between Burrard Street and Macdonald Street. This year features headliners Bif Naked, Frazey Ford, and Slow. As usual, local restaurants, and stores along 4th Avenue will be holding sales and giveaways, as well as providing samples and games on the street for everyone to enjoy. For the first time in the festival’s history, this year’s lineup will feature gender parity.

Tanabata & Flea Market

  • What: The annual Tanabata Children Festival brings colour to the Nikkei Centre on July 7. Learn how to make your wishes on tanzaku and enjoy Tanabata to the fullest. The event also includes food vendors, carnival games, and a flea market.

Krause Berry Farms 5th Annual Butterfly Release

  • What: The 5th Annual Butterfly Release & Fundraiser is returning to the Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery in Langley this summer. The annual fundraiser brings in hundreds of guests every year who join the celebration at the beautiful gardens onsite. On the day of the event, 400 Painted Lady Butterflies will take flight for the very first time, in an eclectic display of colour. The butterflies are released symbolically, in memory and honour of loved ones, by participants of all ages.

Robes Comedy

  • What: Robes is a comedy duo made up of Jenny Rubé & Ronald Dario. The show features sketch comedy, a musical collaboration with Geoff Walter, and improv with special guest Nima Gholamipour.

Maillardville Walking Tour & Tea with Maurice Guibord – Historic Places Day

  • What: In celebration of Historic Places Day, take a guided and engaging tour through historic Maillardville as you learn about the rich history of this neighbourhood. Let local historian and President of the Historical Francophone Society of BC, Maurice Guibord, lead you through Maillardville as he recounts the tales of the French-Canadian pioneers.

Summer Arts Festival

  • What: Burnaby Art Council’s outdoor festival at Deer Lake Gallery is a fun and engaging event with a painting competition, kids workshop, artisan market, live music and entertainment, and more.

Richmond Community Day

  • What: A fun family-friendly environment to encourage face-to-face contact and real conversations between neighbours. The event will have local non-profit organizations revealing the various needs of the community and providing space and opportunity for our Musqueam neighbours to educate all of us on the importance of being good stewards of the land. Activities include a sidewalk chalk drawing competition, bouncy castle, live music, magic show, beach volleyball, refreshments, and more.

Bridgeview Community Festival

  • What: A celebration of the people and families residing in the Bridgeview Community. Have your personal or group portrait created by a professional caricature artist, Ted Couling, or a balloon creation crafted by the Go Bonkers Team. Participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities presented by our many exhibitors, and enjoy live stage performances by Norma McKnight and Merlin the Wizard. The Bridgeview Community Centre staff will also be providing a barbeque while supplies last.
