The Deighton Cup

  • What: Get your chicest hats and flashiest bowties out. The Deighton Cup – Vancouver’s most stylish day at the races – is coming back for summer 2018. Aside from the races, this year’s event will include a best-dressed competition, mixology contest, and delicious food catered by Earls. The restaurant chain will be building a pop-up kitchen on location and Hawksworth will be catering food for patrons in VIP suits. Whether you treat yourself at the taco bar or try delicious sushi doughnuts, the spread at the Cup will definitely satisfy.

Steveston Alive! Walking Tour Vignettes

  • What: Stroll through historic Steveston Village as the past comes to life with the Steveston Alive! Walking Tour Vignettes. Not just any ordinary walking tour – visitors will discover what the past was like as talented Hugh McRoberts Secondary School drama student actors perform five short plays about living and working in Steveston in the year 1917.

Satinder Sartaaj

  • What: Known as a master of Sufi-style singing, Sartaaj has captivated audiences for years with his melodies and classic Punjabi tunes. Sartaaj graduated with an honours degree in music and also completed his 5-year diploma in classical music from Sangeet Vishard in Jalandhar, Punjab. He then headed to Punjab University, Chandigarh for his Masters, also in Music, and he also holds a PhD with specialization in Sufi poetry. Not only is Sartaaj a musician but he is also an actor, and showed his many talents in the Hollywood film The Black Prince released last year.
