10-year Vancouver 2010 Olympic Anniversary Festival

What: On Saturday, February 22, a free public fan festival will be held at Jack Poole Plaza, the site of the Olympic Cauldron and part of Vancouver Convention Centre’s West Building, which was the International Broadcast Centre during the Games. Festival programming will include athlete meet and greets, stage performances, sport demonstrations, food and beverage, the relighting of the Olympic Cauldron, and other family-friendly activities.

Indigenous Plant Use

What: Stanley Park Ecology Society hosts a workshop on indigenous plant use. Attendees will walk through the forest and learn with an experienced educator of Coast Salish descent. Learn about edible, medicinal, and survival uses of plants, as well as the traditional and present-day Indigenous relationships with local plant and wildlife.

Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins

What: Vancouver Canucks hit the ice against the Boston Bruins in NHL action at Rogers Arena.

What: The National Congress of Black Women Foundation BC  hosts a legacy dinner in special recognition of the 2020 honorees, including jazz vocalist Dee Daniels, gospel singer Marcus Mosely, steel pannist Kenrick Headley, and President of Canadian Union of Postal Workers Jan Simpson.

Vancouver International Wine Festival 2020

What: Canada’s premier food and wine festival, the Vancouver International Wine Festival, will take place from February 22 to March 1, 2020, and it will feature 164 wineries from 15 countries. Known as “one of the biggest and oldest wine events in the world,” the festival will feature a plethora of French wineries (43 of them) this year, the showcase region for 2020. As always, HQ for the wine fest will be the Vancouver Convention Centre, but more than 25 other restaurants and venues around the city will host winery dinners, lunches, and seminars.

What: ​Burnaby Lyric Opera presents Madama Butterfly, a heartbreaking story of love, betrayal, and cultures clashing in the late 1890s.

Open Mosque Day – Abbotsford

What: Abbotsford Islamic Center’s 4th annual “Open Mosque Day” is happening on February 22. Take a tour of the Mosque and the display of various exhibition banners. There will also be activities such as Henna tattooing and Hijab-tryouts for kids and women.

24 Hours of Winter at Grouse Mountain

What: Grouse Mountain is once again hosting its annual 24 Hours of Winter event, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the slopes from sundown to sunrise. The non-stop event will take place from February 22 to February 23, and features skiing, snowboarding, skating and more with live DJs setting the musical mood. A complimentary shuttle will be running from 12 am to 7 am on Sunday between Grouse Mountain and key locations in North Vancouver.
