The Image Before Us: A History of Film in British Columbia

What: The Image Before Us: A History of Film in British Columbia explores culturally and historically significant work produced in British Columbia. Repatriation, African-Canadian history, and shifting cultural mores are among the topics explored in this fifth season. Curated by Harry Killas, a Vancouver filmmaker and Associate Professor of Film + Screen Arts at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

RAW Vancouver presents Reflect

Lights at Lafarge Lake

What: Lights at Lafarge Lake is one of the largest free light displays in Metro Vancouver, and features more than 100,000 twinkling lights. The outdoor display wraps its way entirely around the lake, leading visitors on a 1.2-km loop through 10 themed zones. The display is located just steps from SkyTrain’s Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station, and the lights will remain on from dusk each night until 11 pm.

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar: Seafood & Brews Dinner

What: Do you have an idea for a show? Join theatre creators and producers Kim Senklip Harvey and Pippa Mackie for an unforgettable night that puts the power in the hands of the patrons. From anonymous suggestions made by the audience, Kim and Pippa will lead patrons through a lively evening of banter and debate—no idea is off limits, no suggestions taboo or too dangerous—let your imaginations run wild. Part of the Femme Series: highlighting the strength and power of female-identifying voices and experiences. Plus there will be a pre-show Women in the Arts mixer from 6 to 8 pm in The Cultch lobby.
