Drive-thru coronavirus testing for health care providers opens in Vancouver

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) have opened a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site.

The testing site is located near an assisted living residence in Vancouver’s South Cambie area.

Matt Kieltyka, Spokesperson for VCH, says, however, that the site is only open exclusively to health care employees and community health providers. It’s also one of several that are available in Vancouver.

“Staff with symptoms who meet the testing criteria for COVID-19 may drive to the site to receive assessment,” he tells Daily Hive. “This is another way we can protect the public and prevent the spread of the disease.”

He adds that while there are multiple sites, he’s unable to provide further information on them, reminding that they’re staff only and “can change quickly based on need.”

Kieltyka directs any members of the public to use British Columbia’s coronavirus self-assessment tool online to help determine whether they need further assessment or testing.

On Wednesday afternoon, BC Health Officials announced 42 more cases of coronavirus in the province. BC’s total number of cases now stands at 659.
