What: Kanan Gill is coming to Canada for the very first time with his solo show, Teetar. Kanan juggles thoughts and ideas about everything from Julius Caesar’s death, bands, and building societies. Kanan has over 660k subscribers on his YouTube channel with more than 65 million views.

A Nude Hope: A Sci-Fi Burlesque Adventure Farewell Run

What: A Star Wars burlesque parody by the Geekenders. Explore a galaxy far, far away at a Vegas-style spectacular that combines striptease, comedy, dance, showgirls, vaudeville, nostalgia, glitter, droids, body positivity, and more.

When: Every Friday and Saturday from July 5 to August 31, 2019

Improv Mondays with Michelle at Vancouver TheatreSports

What: Improv Mondays with Michelle – Fake Stories, Real Improvisers is hosted by the character Michelle from the popular web comedic soap opera Michelle’s. The original web series, created by Galanopoulos and fellow VTS ensemble member Andrew Barber, is set in the mythical restaurant Michelle’s in Hope. The first half of the show is comprised of short-form scenarios and the second half of the show will be a mini soap opera – all based on audience contributions. Each scene’s comedic melodrama will be enhanced by live musical underscoring by pianist Matt Grinke.

Latrice Royale: Here’s To Life!

What: Join Latrice Royale in her acclaimed one-woman show as she takes us on a celebatory journey of song and storytelling. Latrice shares tales of growing up gay in Compton, the events leading up to her ‘unfortunate incarceration’ and her infectious, ever-positive perspective that got her through it all. Featuring her husband Christopher Hamblin on piano.

Trigger Me This

What: A new show from Richard Side (creator of CBC’s The Debaters) that asks a panel of talented comedians and the audience to decide where jokes cross the line and go from being inoffensive to being off-putting and even toxic. Trigger Me This features Zarqa Nawaz, creator of the hit sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie, Vancouver favourite Yumi Nagashima, and Canadian Comedy Awards nominee Darcy Michael with Richard Side playing host. Part of Indian Summer Festival.

Knockout Punchlines: Improv and Stand-Up Showdown

What: The Fictionals are taking over Yuk Yuks Vancouver for Knockout Punchlines, an epic showcase of Vancouver Comedy. The Improv and Stand-Up Showdown features four stand-up comics performing sets to inspire 12 improvisers to create scenes on the spot. The winning team – as voted on by the audience – will win the Knockout Punchlines Title Belt and the chance to come back to defend their title. Cheer on your favourites.

Hari Kondabolu

What: Hari Kondabolu is a comedian, writer and podcaster based in Brooklyn, NY. His Netflix special “Warn Your Relatives” was released in 2018 and he was named one of Variety’s Top 10 Comics To Watch. Hari has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, John Oliver’s NY Stand-Up Show, @Midnight & has his own half-hour special on Comedy Central. He is also a former writer & correspondent on the Chris Rock produced FX TV show “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.” Part of Indian Summer Festival.

What: Bianca Del Rio is the season six reigning winner of Logo TV’s hit series RuPaul’s Drag Race. A self-proclaimed “clown in a dress” with a raw and racy edge, Bianca Del Rio brings her new tour, “It’s Jester Joke” to Vancouver.

Ali Wong

What: Ali Wong is a stand-up comedian, writer and actress. Her breakout Netflix special “Baby Cobra” premiered Mother’s Day weekend 2016 to critical acclaim. Since then she has thrown out the first pitch at a Giants game and appeared on Ellen. She voices the co-lead and executive produces the Netflix animation show, “Tuca and Bertie” alongside Tiffany Haddish. Ali also stars in Always Be My Maybe with her longtime friend and creative collaborator, Randall Park. Her debut book for Random House will come out in 2019.
