Members of Vancouver’s Phoenix Chamber Choir are encouraging viewers to wash their hands and participate in other health-preserving precautions through a fun and informative music video.

Coronavirus Rhapsody, a take on rock band Queen’s iconic hit, Bohemian Rhapsody, revamps the classic song with COVID-19-themed lyrics.

“Is this a sore throat? Is this just allergies? Caught in a lockdown no escape from reality,” the song begins.

Throughout the humorous, albeit cautionary, musical number, listeners are discouraged from touching their faces, urged to sanitize frequently, and reminded of the vital importance of self-isolation.

Vocal segments were recorded from the safety of members’ homes to the beat of a metronome before being edited together into one video.

“Enjoy this lighthearted parody re-created by some of our very own!” The choir wrote on its Facebook page.

“These days are unprecedented, but our dedication to spreading joy through music does not fade.”

The Phoenix Chamber Choir was founded in 1983 and is renowned as “one of Canada’s finest vocal ensembles,” according to its website.
