Vancouver Cheap Eats: A taste of Thanksgiving

It’s officially turkey season and from the traditional to the unconventional, Vancouver’s food scene has it all. Here are five local spots to hit up this long weekend for a taste of Thanksgiving, all for $10 or less.

Steam Rollers

Meet the burrito that has all of the Thanksgiving fixings you could hope for. For just $8.99 enjoy turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing wrapped in a flour tortilla shell that’s topped with gravy and cranberry sauce. Cactus Club

If you’re a soup lover, you’re likely familiar with Cactus Club’s Butternut Squash Soup. Topped with apple curry foam, basil oil and black pepper croutons, it’s a dream ringing in at $7.25. The Birds & The Beets

No Thanksgiving cheap eats list would be complete without a turkey sandwich. Although it changes seasonally, The Birds and The Beets’ Turkey Sandwich currently features sliced turkey breast, roasted red cabbage dressed in balsamic and quick picked cucumber. While you’re there, be sure to pick up some Thanksgiving flowers to decorate your dinner table, too!

Yamato Sushi is home to some of the best (and cheapest!) Yam Tempura and sushi around. Grab 6 pieces of tempura for $4 or 12 pieces for $7.95. Their Yam Roll rings in at only $2.95 or opt for the Yam and Avocado Roll for $3.60. Mix and match and still stay under budget.

JAPADOG

If you’re in the mood for something other than mashed potatoes and gravy, JAPADOG’s $4.25 Negimiso features a juicy turkey sausage and miso sauce topped with shredded cabbage that’s sure to satisfy your alternative Thanksgiving quota.
