It turns out it’s far more than just regular-season games that are expensive when it comes to Vancouver Canucks hockey.
With the NHL season just over a month away, Canucks players have returned to town and started skating in anticipation of training camp, which is just two weeks away. As is the case every season in the hockey-crazed market, many fans have been planning to attend training camp to watch both current players and prospects in action.
Unfortunately, attending training camp isn’t as inexpensive as one would assume.
Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. PT, fans can purchase tickets to watch Canucks training camp at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton from Sept. 18 to 21.
Saturday is the most exciting of the bunch, as it will feature a scrimmage between team blue vs. team white. Those tickets, however, are going for a rather shocking $40, which is a significant increase from last year’s equally unusual price of $32. Meanwhile, each practice on Thursday and Friday will cost fans $13, while Sunday’s practice is $6.
What’s unfortunate about this situation is that for some fans, attending Saturday’s scrimmage will be the only time they get to watch the Canucks up close all season. Canucks tickets have become increasingly unaffordable, with just five games for single-game ticket buyers available for under $100 this season.
To no surprise, the response on social media since learning these prices has frustrated several fans.
Who the F$&# charges $60 for this and who is dumb enough to pay it? Clown Show

“I remember watching a teenage Jake Virtanen destroy a teenage Connor McDavid on his first shift at the 2016 Young Stars,” another user wrote on X. “Tickets for that were $10. For an actual game, featuring legit talent. That wasn’t 1986. It was nine years ago.”
It will be interesting to see if the backlash the Canucks are facing causes them to lower pricing for training camp next year.
