Vancouver Canucks reveal training camp plans to begin Malhotra era
There’s nothing like NHL training camp.
It’s a time when there are good vibes aplenty as all teams remain undefeated. Training camps are also prime for fixating on prospects who may not make a discernible impact on your team, reading way too much into line combinations, and for NHL head coaches to gander into silly experiment territory.
For the Canucks last season, legitimate stories also emerged, like Braeden Cootes being better than anyone thought he’d be. Although, perhaps he looked good against the backdrop of a team that was on its way to finishing last overall in the NHL.
Canucks training camp in 2026 surely won’t lack storylines. They have a prospect pool with depth and substance, headlined by third-overall pick Caleb Malhotra.
Oh, and Caleb’s dad, Manny, will run his first NHL training camp as Canucks head coach.
On Wednesday, the Canucks revealed the time and place where Canucks fans can watch the infancy of the 2026-27 season unfold.
The Canucks announced on Wednesday that they will return to the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton for the third straight training camp. The activities will commence on Thursday, Sept. 17, and end on Sunday, Sept. 20.
“Returning to Penticton this year makes perfect sense for our organization,” Henrik Sedin said in a press release. “The South Okanagan Events Centre has everything we need for camp both on and off the ice.”
You can bank on camp being more jam-packed during the first two days on Sept. 17 and 18, as the Canucks play their first preseason game on Saturday, Sept. 19 down in Seattle against the Kraken.
The Canucks press release mentioned that “on-ice sessions will be available to the public and will include free activations for fans of all ages at the South Okanagan Events Centre.”
A source told Daily Hive that more information on tickets and activities during training camp will be available soon.
Last training camp, the Canucks took some heat for the prices they charged on training camp tickets. Since then, however, ticket prices for games have started to come down. We’ll see if that trend continues for training camp tickets in 2026.
