The Vancouver Canucks have seemingly noticed the buzz they generated following a recent marketing campaign release.
There was mass confusion from fans and many directly involved in the hockey world when the Canucks sent out a season ticket marketing campaign earlier in the week that included several players, though there was one notable omission.
Left off the graphic was Elias Pettersson, who for years was viewed as the face of the franchise. It was quite puzzling that they chose to leave him off the ad entirely while including Quinn Hughes, Jake DeBrusk, Conor Garland, and Kiefer Sherwood.
Though it didn’t receive as much attention and scrutiny, some also noted the fact that Thatcher Demko was left off the graphic as well. The Canucks clearly heard the outside noise, as they since changed the graphic entirely to include both Pettersson and Demko.

While this may have not been done with any sort of intent or disrespect to their $11.6 million man, it was a big enough talking point that even other front offices around the NHL picked up on.
āIt did not go unnoticed in league circles yesterday, with a GM asking me specifically ā ādo you know why theĀ CanucksĀ didnāt put Pettersson on that infographic that they sent out?’ā NHL insider Frank Seravalli shared on Sportsnet 650āsĀ Halford and BroughĀ show earlier this week.
There had already been rumours that the Canucks were shopping Pettersson after a disappointing 2024-25 season, and this graphic confusion has only seen that escalate further.
As for Demko, he has just one season remaining on his five-year contract, and can begin extension talks with the Canucks beginning on July 1.
