Vancouver Canucks fans may feel conflicted following the Florida Panthers’ win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night.
The Panthers were able to pick up a crucial 5-4 overtime victory versus the Maple Leafs to cut their series deficit to 2-1. Most Canucks fans were likely happy with the result, as former goaltender Roberto Luongo is a part of the Panthers’ management group.
What Canucks fans are likely feeling conflicted about, however, was that it was former Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand who was able to score the game-winning goal.

Cheering for Marchand is no easy task for Canucks fans, who despised the veteran forward for several seasons given the intense rivalary between their team and the Bruins. It’s also likely somewhat odd for Luongo, given that he was a member of the Canucks throughout that intense rivalry.
It appears that’s in the past, however, as the 46-year-old was spotted celebrating as hard as anybody on Marchand’s massive goal.

While the reaction doesn’t come as a big surprise given that Luongo and Marchand are now on the same side, it still isn’t the easiest thing for Canucks fans to stomach. Several had some rather hilarious reactions on social media after seeing the longtime NHL netminder react the way he did.

The Panthers acquired Marchand in a rather shocking deal with the Bruins at the trade deadline. Luongo, realizing the uniqueness of the situation, was quick to welcome the agitating winger to the Panthers with a hilarious message on social media.

Though cheering for Marchand may still be difficult to stomach for many Canucks fans, those who continue to love Luongo to this day will have to find a way to do so for the remainder of the Panthers’ playoff run.
Game 4 between the Panthers and Maple Leafs will take place on Sunday night at Amerant Bank Arena.
