Sadaharu Soy: New sushi mascot added to Vancouver Canadians Sushi Races

Dec 19 2017, 11:54 pm

Canadians Sushi Races have been delighting fans at the Nat Bailey Stadium since their first run in 2008. There is something riveting about watching Ms. BC Roll, Mr. Kappa Maki and the sinister Chef Wasabi race around the ballpark during the 4th inning of every home game.

Usually, Ms. BC Roll and Mr. Kappa Maki are the triumphant champions, but now it’s anyone’s game. The competition has gotten hot and spicy.

A fourth mascot, Sadaharu Soy, has joined the race. This cute bottle of salty joy is named after Japanese Baseball Hall of Famer Sadaharu Oh, who also goes by Wang Chen-chih. Oh is the all-time home run leader with 868 home runs during his career in the Japanese major leagues.

Sadaharu Soy’s first race will be during the Vancouver Canadians opener home game tonight. Want to watch Sadaharu Soy take on the rest of the sushi family? Purchase tickets to a C’s game here.
