Vancouver Police are sharing some information about a violent attack against a woman that took place in the Marpole neighbourhood last week.
The incident took place on Aug. 27 at around 1:30 a.m.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, the woman was walking in the west lane of the 8600 block of Granville Street, near SW Marine Drive, before she was approached by “an unidentified man.”
Police say that the man allegedly punched the woman in the face, stole her purse, and fled before police got to the scene.
“A neighbourhood search was unsuccessful,” VPD said.
They were able to locate the victim’s phone nearby, and she was treated on location by members of British Columbia Emergency Health Services for injuries to her nose.
Daily Hive confirmed that the suspect was not known to the victim.
VPD is now turning to the public to help with the investigation. Officers are currently reviewing area surveillance and are asking anyone who may have been driving near Granville Street and SW Marine Drive on Aug. 27, between 1 and 2 a.m., to check their dashcam footage.
“Witnesses or anyone with video evidence are asked to call Vancouver Police at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS,” VPD added.
There have been several violent incidents in Vancouver over the past month or so, including an incident that involved an e-scooter rider getting hit in the face with a hammer.
